Thanks to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), more than 90 percent of Californians now have access to health care, including 97 percent of children.
- The ACA expanded Medi-Cal; now over 1 in 3 Californians have access to health care through Medi-Cal.
- Pre-existing conditions like asthma, diabetes, and cancer are covered.
- Youth under the age of 26 can stay on their parent’s health care plan.
- Nearly 16 million Californians benefit from free preventative services like cancer screening, saving health care dollars and lives.
Cuts to Medi-Cal could leave millions of Californians at risk of losing their health care.
Undocumented Californians
Undocumented Californians contribute billions of dollars to California’s economy, yet more than a million lack access to affordable health care coverage. Health care is a human right and providing health coverage to everyone – regardless of immigration status – is the right thing to do. Join us in fighting for #Health4All because a health care system that excludes anyone, hurts everyone.
California Leads
In California, all income-eligible youth under the age of 19 have access to full Medi-Cal coverage, regardless of immigration status. Californians with Deferred Action status (DACA) may also be eligible for Medi-Cal. For more information and for help with enrollment, click here.
